INFO: I purchased a decent 1976 280z on May 10th, 2003. There is one dent on the front passenger fender which I am gonna remove this week. The plugs on the passenger floor boards are not all there, so the floor was just starting to get rusty. Only surface rust. So those will be pluged. All the interior peices appeared to be spray painted black at one point and now its all peeling off. I intend to paint the car, paint the floor boards with black bedliner material as I did in one of my 4x4 trucks (very nice), then I will epoxy carbon fiber to all the interior peices to give them a permanate good looking finish. Soon after this I plan to pull the I6 and T5, and replace them with a 350cid small block chevy with built 700r4 tranny. Not sure what to do with the rear end in these cars, I would assume someone can rebuilt it with locking rear thats strong enough for the power this V8 will soon have.
Hmm.. There is a large possiblity that instead of converting this car to a V8. I may infact convert this to an electric car. I have recently designed the motor controller capable for moving a car of this size. I just need an electric motor large enough, and do the conversion myself. With gas prices I just don't think a V8 would be very economical given the fact that I already have one V8 powered chevy (my 66 impala). So this 280z will probably get a battery pack instead.
